Gengo Madness
I installed the Gengo plugin. And it works, kind of. It just seems to be such a complex toy that it demands a lot of work under the hood to make everything work.
Done by now:
- Localized the basic phrases of basic views (posted in, pvm, next posts etc.)
- Defined two languages and the category names for both of them
- Used the template functions to make a language control “widget” (not a real widget I’m afraid)
- Fought with different category options, to no avail
- Caused a SQL error whenever one tries to read the blog in both of the languages (read one language at a time, please!)
To DO:
- Localize the category list
- Debug the SQL error
- The option for that is to make a simple language switcher
- Translate the earlier posts
- Get the summaries visible somehow (the template function did not seem to work)
So, this’ll keep me just as busy as repairing an old house. I hope this doesn’t go on forever. Unfortunately I had to discard the polls as well as they did not co-operate with Gengo.
