The (soon-to-be) Grand List of DiGRA 2007 Coverage
I’ve stumbled upon numerous blog entries about the DiGRA 2007 Conference, or as it is officially known: Situated Play, the 2007 Conference of the Digital Game Research Association, so I decided that I’ll make a post with a list of all the stuff I found. I hope this is of use to all of you. I’ll contribute with entries of my own, too, when I am able to.
The DiGRA 2007 Weblog is an on-going effort by the conference organizers.
Jason Della Rocca, IGDA’s executive director, has posted a trip summary of his own in his blog Reality Panic. Not only does he cover DiGRA2007, but also Tokyo Game Show 2007 and the International Japan Contents Festival. Not very high depth on DiGRA Conference, but interesting comments on all the events and some nice photos too.
Michael Nitsche of Experimental Game Lab at Georgia Tech reflects on DigRA2007 on the Freepixel blog. Nice overall analysis there including some of his highlight picks and links to the papers he presented in the conference.
Barry Atkins, a serious games researcher, has a couple of posts about DiGRA2007 in his blog SHUSH, including a post about temporality in games (with reflections on the keynote panel with “the Japanese Gaming Gods”) and reflection about the whole event.
Frans Mäyrä, the game research professor in the Tampere University (and the former president of DiGRA) has two posts in his blog frans goes blog: reflections at the start of the conference and after it has ended.
The Videogame Visionary blog has posts recapping the DiGRA 2007 Conference day by day. Including some random remarks and funny findings from the conference and miscellanous stuff about Japanese culture. You can find a list of the entries here.
The popular culture gaming blog has a couple of related posts: DiGRA Conference summary, a report on an Akihabara trip and videos from Tokyo Game Show.
That’s it so far, I hope to add more stuff as time goes by.
